Heavy rain damages crops in Haliyal taluk

Karwar: Haliyal taluk in Uttara Kannada district witnessed heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds on Wednesday evening.

Electricity poles were uprooted in several parts of the taluk. A cow died in lightning strike in Chibbalageri village in taluk. A house was damaged when lightning struck at Chatranala village, official sources said.

Banana and mango crops have been damaged in several parts of the taluk.

Revenue officials visited the affected villages and assessed the damage caused by the rain.
