Sathish helps Jolly Rovers take first innings lead

CHENNAI: R. Sathish's unbeaten 153 (227b, 21x4) helped Jolly Rovers secure the first-innings lead against India Pistons on the second day of a 10th-round TNCA first-division league match here at IIT-Chemplast.

In making his fourth hundred of the season, Sathish crossed the 750-run mark. J. Syed Mohamed (69 batting) helped Sathish add 224 for the unbroken fifth wicket. Pistons left-arm spinner M. Suresh Babu claimed his 50th wicket of the season.

At MRF-Pachaiyappa's, A.S.K. Varma led IOB's fight-back with 120 (231b, 15x4, 2x6). C. Suresh chipped in with 59 as IOB recovered from 227 for six to post a score of 359. X. Thalaivan Sargunam's unbeaten 83 helped Globe Trotters finish on 149 for two.

Abhinav Mukund (104, 148b, 15x4) crossed the 600-run mark and captain R. Prasanna (60) passed the 500-run mark as Vijay declared on 367 for eight for a 210-run first-innings lead over Young Stars at IC-Guru Nanak.

J. Madanagopal's 102-ball 91 helped Grand Slam make 176 for one replying to Aruna's 383 at RKM-Vivekananda. Kaushik Gandhi, during his unbeaten 68, went past the 500-run mark. Aruna earlier collapsed from 303 for three. Seamer M. Raja and left-arm spinner V. Arun Kumar (43 wickets for the season) split six wickets.

The scores (10th round): At IIT-Chemplast: India Pistons 300 vs. Jolly Rovers 336 for four in 102 overs (Petson Mathews 41, R. Sathish 153 batting, J. Syed Mohamed 69 batting).

At RKM-Viveka: Aruna 383 in 128.1 overs (Jesubabu Honeymen 54, P. Shijith Chandran 79, C. Hemanth Kumar 94, Ashwin Venkatraman 43) vs. Grand Slam 176 for one in 50 overs (J. Madanagopal 91, Kaushik Gandhi 68 batting).

At MRF-Pachaiyappa's: IOB 359 in 139.1 overs (L.N. Prasad Reddy 73, Pramod Doss 55, A.S.K. Varma 120, C. Suresh 59, Y. Venugopala Rao four for 55) vs. Globe Trotters 149 for two in 38 overs (X. Thalaivan Sargunam 83 batting, S. Sriram 41).

At Southern Railway: Parry's 358 in 95 overs (Juzer Abbas 92, S. Dinesh Kumar 76, K. Anand 57, N. Raghavendran 40) and 160 for two in 46 overs (S. Dinesh Kumar 68 batting, K. Anand 49 batting) vs. Southern Railway 98 in 34.5 overs (Rahil Shah four for 20).

At MAC: UFCC (T. Nagar) 230 in 97.1 overs (Sambasiva Sharma 68) vs. Indian Bank 250 for six in 80 overs (Vijay Shankar 48, E. Suresh 65 batting).

At IC-Guru Nanak: Young Stars 157 and 26 for one in 14 overs vs. Vijay 367 for eight decl. in 91 overs (Abhinav Mukund 104, K.B. Arun Karthick 51, R. Prasanna 60) .

Karan Shinde shines

Karan Shinde's three for 29 and 78 runs helped Chakra CA to a seven-wicket win over Adambakkam CA in the SBI-Reddy's under-13 tournament here on Wednesday.

The scores: Reddy 129 in 28.2 overs (Vikram Singh 30, Ashish Kumar three for six) lost to Kedar 131 for two in 14.2 overs (Santosh 71 n.o., S. Aravind 31).

Adambakkam 183 for three in 30 overs (Santosh Shiv 64 n.o., Karthik Prabhu 31 n.o., Karan Shinde three for 29) lost to Chakra 184 for three in 28.4 overs (Girinath 62 n.o., Karan Shinde 78).

Adambakkam 176 for four in 30 overs (Hariharan 44, Santosh Shiv 68, S. Sailesh three for 26) lost to Kedar 179 for three in 19 overs (S. Aravind 64, Santosh 56).
