TIRUNELVELI: Rallies and public meetings organised by various trade unions marked the ‘May Day' celebrations held across the district on Saturday. The AITUC and CITU functionaries took out a rally from Lourdunathan Statue to Jawahar Grounds, Palayamkottai. The AIADMK-affiliated Anna Thozhir Sangam organised a public meeting at Tirunelveli Town. Tuticorin In the ‘May Day' celebration held at Tuticorin, the AITUC and CITU members took out a rally. Nagercoil ‘May Day' was celebrated in different parts of the district by various political parties on Saturday. Tourism Minister N. Suresh Rajan said that the present Government was committed to ensure the welfare of workers and it had set up various welfare boards for the benefit of the workers.
