WARANGAL: The allegations of misappropriation of money in construction works are false, said the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, Director Y.V. Rao, who was on a long leave but suddenly was present on the campus on Saturday. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Prof. Rao said, he remains the Director of the institute. He had only gone on a long leave for health reasons and said the allegations levelled against him were trash. “Every work, estimate and execution of the construction work was done by a committee of experts and there were more checks and balances in the system. It was not my own decision. The Central Public Department Works personnel were involved at every stage,” he explained. Prof. Rao accused a section of staff within the institute of launching a false propaganda against him. He said there were problems with regard to quality of food and shortage of drinking water, which would be solved in due course.
