Alappuzha defeats Kollam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Alappuzha defeated Kollam by 93 runs and secured full points in the South Zone under-19 inter-district cricket tournament at the Agriculture College ground on Tuesday.

P.K. Midhun, who took 10 wickets in the match, was the architect of Alappuzha's win. Kollam, which needed 182 for a win, was bundled out for 88 in its second innings.

Kottayam took the first innings lead against Pathanamthitta as the match between the two sides ended in a draw at the Medical College ground.

The scores: Alappuzha 112 & 131 (Akshay Jothin 51, Balu five for 43, Sreeraj three for 39) bt Kollam 62 and 88 (P.K. Midhun five for 35, Visakh Vijayan four for 25); Pathanamthitta 195 & 155 for eight (Nikhil three for 28) drew with Kottayam 252 (Vijo Philip 70, Misad 50, Sharath six for 78) .
