Complaint against MNC for trading in shahtoosh

New Delhi: A wildlife investigating agency has filed a court complaint against a Delhi-based MNC engaged in trade of handicrafts and other heritage items across the world for attempting to export banned shahtoosh shawls 13 years ago.

The Customs had seized at least 13 shawls from Indira Gandhi International Airport on November 11, 1996, from the consignments booked by Cottage Industries Exposition for UK.

The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau had filed a complaint here in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dig Vinay last week following conclusion of adjudication of a matter by the Customs that was prompted by a petition filed by an NGO, Wildlife Trust of India, in the Delhi High Court. -- PTI
