Indian boys ensure quarterfinal entry
NEW DELHI: The Indian boys consolidated their position with a 2-1 victory over Singapore in a group ‘I' league match of the Asia Oceania World junior under-14 tennis tournament in Anqing, China, on Tuesday.
With the top-seeded Australia also recording its second successive victory, the two ensured their qualification for the knock-out phase from the group.
China, Thailand, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Japan and New Zealand also recorded victories to confirm their entry for the quarterfinals.
The results: India bt Singapore 2-1 (Jude Raymond bt Joshua Liu 6-0, 7-6(3); Basil Khuma bt Rohan Kamdar 7-6(7), 6-3; Vignesh Prabhu and Jude Raymond lost to Rohan Kamdar and Kaiyi Lee 6-7(4), 3-6) .
