TIRUCHI: Ration card holders can draw their quota of essential commodities whenever they want to and there was no compulsion that they should draw the commodities every month, Collector T.Soundiah has said. Sales personnel in ration shops have been given clear instructions that they should not stop supply for ration cards for which commodities have not been three consecutive months, he said in a press release. Mr.Soundiah said the district administration has received complaints that supply of commodities was being suspended for ration cardholders who have not drawn commodities for three consecutive months. There was no such directive and card holders have the right to decide whether to purchase their quota or not. Complaints can be lodged with the District Supplies Officer over mobile number 9445000277.
