KOCHI: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the 28th State meet of the Kerala Panchayat Employees' Organisation (KPEO) at Mahatma Town Hall at Aluva on Saturday at 10 a.m. Union Minister of State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas will deliver the keynote address. District Congress Committee president V.J. Paulose will preside. K.P. Dhanapalan, MP, MLAs K. Babu, Dominic Presentation, and V.K. Ibrahim Kunju, NSU (I) national president Hibi Eden, and KPCC general secretary Benny Behannan will be among those to offer felicitations. Leader of Opposition Oommen Chandy will inaugurate a seminar on “Local Self-government Bodies and development dreams of Kerala,” at the IMA Hall at Aluva on Sunday at 1.30 p.m. MPs M.I. Shanavas, P.C. Chacko, and P.T. Thomas and Coir Board chairman V.S. Vijayaraghavan will be among those to speak. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, M.P. Mohanan, general secretary of KPEO, said that about 1,000 delegates, one each from every panchayat, were expected to attend the meet. Aryadan Mohammed, MLA, will inaugurate the delegates' meet at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, MLA, will deliver the keynote address. K.L. Alexander, vice president of KPEO will preside. M. Liju State president of Youth Congress, will address the gathering. Elections to the State Council of the organisation will be held at 3 p.m.
