‘Five posts in the OC filled by candidates belonging to categories other than OC category' ‘V-C tried to please his close friends and even a friend of his daughter by giving him a post' WARANGAL: The recent recruitment of faculty by the Kakatiya University drew widespread criticism besides resentment among the candidates who were working on contractual and part-time basis for about a decade. Bypassing merit, favouring candidates of senior faculty members besides political interference were some of the allegations levelled against the Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor N. Lingamurthy. The university issued notification inviting applications for 61 posts of Assistant Professors in chemistry, sericulture, law, pharmacy, library science, mining engineering, mechanical engineering, IT, zoology, ECE, CSE, physics, biotechnology and EEE. Of them 40 are regular posts while the rest are backlogs. P. Karunakar a part-time lecturer working for about a decade in the Department of Biotechnology was circumvented and Warangal MP S. Rajaiah's wife Madhavi was given the post though she has only one publication. She is already working as lecturer in government aided-degree college in Adilabad district. Mr Karunakar staged a sit-in at the Vice-Chancellor's chamber. In zoology department, the authorities have ignored seniors like N Vinitha, and preferred Sravanthi who was recently awarded Ph.D and happens to be the daughter of University College Principal Mr. Sammaiah. Much against the conventions, Mr Sammaiah who is also the Chairman of the Board of Studies was entrusted with the job of constituting the interview panel of the faculty. M. Radha Krishna, who filed a case in High Court on the recruitment, claims to have five international publications, post-doctoral research experience and teaching experience but failed to get a post in zoology department.“This recruitment is farce. Five posts in the Open Category were filled by candidates belonging to other than OC category. The Vice-Chancellor tried to please all his close friends and even friend of his daughter by giving him a post in zoology department,” Mr Radha Krishna alleged. However, Vice-Chancellor maintained that recruitment was done basing on the merit and there was no hanky-panky.
