SIRSI: In the newly formed Sirsi Education District (which came into existence on October 1, 2009), Yellapur taluk has secured the first place by scoring 84.88 per cent in the SSLC examination this year. The scores for other taluks in the district are Siddapur 81.31per cent, Sirsi 80 per cent, Joida 68.79 per cent, Haliyal 59.38 per cent and Mundgod 57.29 per cent. As many as 13 high schools in the district have secured 100 per cent results. Of the 8,361 students who appeared for the SSLC examination, 6,127 students have passed. Girls have topped the list by scoring 74.50 per cent, whereas boys have secured 71.89 per cent. Sirsi Education District has secured the ninth place in the state with 72.22 per cent, according to sources in the Deputy Director of Public Instruction office here.
