Good response:Salem Corporation is organising a two-day special drive to register births and deaths on its office premises on Friday and Saturday. SALEM: The Salem Corporation has begun its two-day special drive of issuing birth and death certificates free of cost on Friday. Inaugurated by Mayor J. Rekha Priyadarshini, the camp will give certificates to applicants without processing fees. Commissioner Dr. K. S. Palanisamy said that a similar camp held during last year had issued 3,500 birth and death certificates to the applicants. “The public immensely benefitted,” he further pointed out and urged the public to make use of the present one also. The Corporation asked the applicants to bring necessary documents. Many could be seen applying for certificates during the first hour of the camp on Friday. The officials were expecting good response from the two-day camp. Deputy Mayor C. Panneerselvam, Health Standing Committee chairman Danasekaran and Health Officer Dr. Porkodi were present.
