INCONSOLABLE:K. Rama Rao grieving over the death of his daughter Praneetha in a car crash in the US. In the foreground is a picture of Praneetha during her childhood. HYDERABAD: Kasani Praneetha Devi, a student from Hyderabad pursuing MS in Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in the United States, was killed in a road accident in West Virginia State, her family members here said on Saturday. Five other students, including A. Puneeth Reddy, who was driving the car in which they were travelling, sustained injuries in the accident in the early hours of Thursday. The 22-year-old student is daughter of K. Rama Rao, Inspector of Falaknuma traffic police station in the old city here. Rams another vehicle Praneetha and her friends were returning to the university in Ohio State when Puneeth Reddy lost control of the car and rammed another vehicle. The impact of the collision was such that Praneetha was flung out of the car. She died on the spot. Injured The injured identified as K. Venkatasashi, V. Harika, R. Pavan Kumar and M. Santosh, were out of danger, reports reaching here said. Puneeth Reddy and Santosh are from North Virginia University while others are from WSU. The tragic news reached the Inspector's family living near Karmanghat Hanuman temple late on Thursday night leaving them shell-shocked. Eldest of Mr. Rao's two daughters, Ms. Praneetha Devi completed her engineering from a private college in Hyderabad. She secured admission for post-graduation in electrical engineering in WSU and flew to America in December. Celebrates birthday She recently completed her first semester. “Everyone was happy as she informed that she had secured good marks in the exams. Then came the heart-breaking news last night,” a relative said. The student celebrated her 22 {+n} {+d} birthday on April 28. She had phoned her family members saying that her friends and university teachers had hosted a surprise birthday party for her. Hyderabad Traffic Police Additional Commissioner C.V. Anand and L.B. Nagar MLA D. Sudheer Reddy called on Mr. Rao's family members and assured all help in getting the body flown to Hyderabad at the earliest.
