HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has set 209 lakh tonnes as the foodgrain production target for 20010-11 -- which is 5 lakh tonnes more than the highest production of 204 lakh tonnes in 2008-09. Interacting with district Collectors through videoconference on Friday to discuss arrangements for the Rythu Chaitanya Yatras (RCY) from May 17 to June 2, the Chief Minister said the State's economy depended on agriculture which, however, was vulnerable to vagaries of weather. He called for efforts to educate farmers on modern farming and the latest technology available to achieve the target, notwithstanding the possible weather setbacks. Agriculture Minister N. Rythu Sadassus Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said Rythu Sadassus would be organised from June 7 to 11 after the Rythu Chaitanya Yatras with exhibitions to familiarise the farmers on the extension services being made available to them.
