ADILABAD: Maoist Central Committee member Mohammed Hussain alias Sagar was on Friday was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by the Adilabad Excise Court Judicial First Class Magistrate G. Venu, in a 1988 jail break case. The accused had escaped from Adilabad sub-jail along with other naxalites Nalla Adi Reddy, Bandi Prakash and Munje Ratnaiah. Hussain, who had escaped from the jail as an under trial in the 1976 Tapalpur murder case, is the sixth Maoist to be convicted by courts in Adilabad district. While Nalla Adi Reddy, another CC member was killed in an encounter in Karimnagar district later, Bandi Prakash was convicted in the case, while Ratnaiah is still absconding. Hussain faced several cases in the courts at Mancherial and Asifabad. He was arrested in Bokaro district of Jharkhand State in February last year. The last conviction of any naxalite had come in April 2006 when Kamera Chandraiah of the Chennur-Sirpur Dalam was sent to imprisonment by the Luxettipet court in a case of arson at Audam in Nennel mandal.
