Chandy: Mani should own responsibility

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy said K.M. Mani, leader of the KC(M), should own responsibility before the people of the State for justifying P.J. Joseph, “who was part of the LDF ‘misrule' and had decided to merge with the KC(M).

The Opposition leader said the entry of Mr. Joseph into the UDF had created difference of opinion in the front. The unity in the UDF and the faith the people had reposed in it were reflected in the results of the Parliament elections. The Congress would not be able to justify Mr. Joseph, who had left the LDF without citing any political reasons. Mr. Mani would have to own the responsibility for the outcome of the decision, he said.

Mr. Chandy said he was saddened by the recent developments and statements by Mr. Mani regarding Mr. Joseph's entry into the Kerala Congress (M). However, the bickering would in no way affect the Front's prospects, he said.

Chandy confident

Mr. Chandy said the UDF would put up a strong showing in the elections to local bodies.

Mr. Chandy was addressing a delegates' meet of the Kerala Panchayat Employees' Organisation, organised as part of its 28 {+t} {+h} annual conference, at IMA Hall, Aluva, on Sunday. The three-day conference ended on Sunday.
