PATHANAMTHITTA: Heavy rain and wind wreaked havoc in Konni and Kozhencherry areas on Saturday. As many as 150 houses were damaged in Konni and surrounding areas, besides heavy loss to standing crops. A large number of electric posts got uprooted in the wind, disrupting power supply. Many trees fell on the roofs of houses, causing damage. No casualties had been reported from Konni, official sources said. Attachackal, Chemmani, Konnappara, Thannithode, Mannera and Thalamanam had been reported as the worst affected areas in Konni. Narayanan, 63, of Kalluvarambu colony at Neervilakom in Kozhencherry taluk, was electrocuted when he stepped on a live power line lying on the road at Neervilakom on Saturday. Power supply to many parts of Kozhencherry had been disrupted following damage to electric posts. Koipram, Thottappuzhasserry and Aranmula panchayats were the worst affected. Damage due to strong winds was reported from Erumakkad, Kottackakom, Kozhippalam, Nedumprayar, Chettimukku, Poozhikknnu, Atmavu junction, Kuravankuzhy, Nellimala and Vallikkala.
