Collector M. Jayaraman with officials at the review meeting on Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tirunelveli.
TIRUNELVELI: Even as loading of dummy fuel into the first unit of the 2 X 1,000 MWe nuclear reactors of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) is going on smoothly, Collector M. Jayaraman and top officials of KKNPP reviewed the security arrangements and other safety measures incorporated in the power project.
According to Mr. Jayaraman, the meeting was organised to review the security arrangements already in place on the project premises and also the safety features incorporated in the state-of-the-art reactors being constructed with Russian assistance.
“With the video presentation on the nuclear power project, we've taught our (revenue and other government) officials about the functioning of the nuclear reactors under construction at Koodankulam.
Moreover, the meeting also enlightened the officials on the safety measures already incorporated in the reactors and the awareness programmes to be conducted among the public on this project,” Mr. Jayaraman noted.
District Revenue Officer P. Ramanasaraswathi, Sub-Collector, Cheranmahadevi K. Veeraraghava Rao, Superintendent (Training), KKNPP, S.K. Sinha, Senior Engineer, KKNPP, S. Venkatesh participated in the meeting.
