CHENNAI: For the next three weeks, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) will enable tourists to taste different kinds of food that are prepared for festivals or on special occasions.
The food festival called ‘Food Brotherhood' is being organised as part of the ‘Kodai Thiruvizha' at the Island Grounds here from May 8 with different themes on a weekly basis, Tourism Secretary V. Irai Anbu said on Friday.
Talking to mediapersons, he said that during the first week (May 8 - 14) tourists will be able to relish food and sweets prepared for Vinayaka Chaturthi, Pongal, Deepavali, Christmas, Ramzan, and New Year's Day.
In the second week (May 15 - 21) food items of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Kashmir, Gujarat and Rajasthan will be offered. An international food festival will be held during the third week.
During this period, as many as 40 items will be offered on a buffet system. The cost per plate for adult is Rs.150 and Rs.75 for children.
There is also a proposal to offer it on a combo-meal style at a much lesser cost, according to an official of Enthrall Communications, the firm which is organising the Kodai Thiruvizha.
On May 9, fancy dress competition will be held for children aged between 2 and 7.
