Kottayam: Quarterfinalists have been spotted in the 34th State Junior basketball championships held at the Girideepam basketball courts on Sunday. In the boys' section, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha qualified from pool ‘A' while Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur made the grade from Pool ‘B'. Ernakulam and Malappuram qualified from pools ‘C' and ‘D' respectively. In the girls' category, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram qualified for the last eight stage. The results (league): Boys: Pool ‘A': Pathanamthitta 61 bt Alappuzha 51. Pool ‘B': Thrissur 35 bt Kannur 16; Kannur 38 bt Palakkad 20. Pool ‘C': Malappuram 74 bt Kasaragod 69 .
