Seized food items in Theni destroyed

Tamarind, dates, soaps, masala powder,chocolates, pulses and eatables were seized


THENI: All the expired food items that were seized from a cold storage unit, several departmental stores, shops and grocery stores during surprise raids in the past three days were destroyed in the presence of Collector M. Vallalar here on Saturday.

All the seized items were buried. Several teams had seized tamarind, dates, soap, soap powder, masala powder, biscuits, chocolates, pulses, packed items and other eatables worth Rs.3 lakh from various shops in the district.
