KOLKATA: A former Bengal Ranji player Murtaza Lodhgar launched an online cricket coaching and education site to help the young cricketers learn the fundamentals of the game. Claiming it to be the first of its kind in the country, Lodhgar, a former left-arm spinner, said that the site (having its address: cricketguru.in) would work as guide in helping one “perform the basic skills of cricket like batting, bowling, fielding, wicket-keeping through technical and bio-mechanical terms.” The website will also inform a budding cricketer on issues like health, nutrition, fitness, laws and history of the game. The website will have interactive aspects like live online coaching while there will also be provision for the experts associated with the site going out to schools and colleges to get students acquainted with professional cricket software called ‘Silicon Coach' Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly inaugurated the website. Also present during the launch were a host of former cricketers of the State including Raju Mukherjee, Sambaran Banerjee and Arun Lal. — Principal Correspondent
