BERHAMPUR: The mysterious splinter Maoist outfit ‘M-2' has again showed up its presence through posters in Kandhamal district. Threatening posters in the name of this outfit were found at Phiringia in Kandhamal district. Six persons of the area were threatened of dire consequences if they did not stop their corrupt practices. Police seized the posters and investigation has been initiated to find whether it was handiwork of some local miscreant or was a real threat. The persons who were threatened by the posters have also filed a complaint with police demanding investigation to reveal the persons behind this threat. It may be noted that the M-2 organisation had come to the fore in Kandhamal district and its adjoining areas through a series of posters. It was claimed that some Maoist cadres who separated themselves from their main wing had formed it. This new group had also initiated a successful bandh in Kandhamal district on Jan 3, 2009. This new group claimed that the killing of a Hindu leader which sparked off communal violence in Kandhamal district has divided the CPI (Maoist) party in Orissa. This new group alleged that the Maoist leaders in Orissa had entered into religious conflict and sectarian politics due to personal gains. Police investigations are yet to prove the existence of this group. Last year two persons had been arrested from Paralakhemundi, while they were pasting threatening posters against the local MLA in the name of the M-2 outfit. It was proved that they had no links with naxals.
