BERHAMPUR: Search operations continued on Monday to track down the Maoists who tried to launch a major attack in the Narayanpatna block in Orissa's Koraput district on Sunday. The borders of the block have been sealed. But no Maoist, either killed or injured by police bullets during the encounter on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, has been traced yet. Special Operation Group jawans of Orissa and Grey Hound personnel from Andhra Pradesh were involved in this joint operation inside the Pindamala forest near Baipariguda under the Narayanpatna police station limits. Anup Sahu, Superintendent of Police, Koraput, said the security forces seized two naxal kit bags and a grenade. The search parties came across blood marks and signs of dragging of bodies, suggesting that the Maoists might have carried some bullet-ridden compatriots into the dense jungle. Border Security Force personnel deployed in the area are not involved in the search operation. They have been kept as a standby for any emergency. According to sources, the security forces have taken 18 persons for questioning. They were not arrested and were only being questioned for information on naxal movements, the SP said.
