Brandix Apparel India wins

VISAKHAPATNAM: Brandix Apparel India won the VDCA institutions league title in its debut season with an all-win record in the super league. HSBC, last year's winner finished runner-up in its second season of the league.

Brandix beat Eastern Naval Command by seven wickets in the last match of the league at the ACA-VDCA Stadium ‘B' ground here on Monday. G. Appanna (half-century and three for 51) and P. Trinadh (45 and four for 41) shared the limelight.

Medium-pacer Leo's five for 14 saw HSBC beat Naval Armament Depot by 77 runs in the other match.

The scores: Eastern Naval Command 163 in 27.4 overs (N. Abbas 36, Debash Roy 36, P. Trinadh four for 41, G. Appanna three for 51) lost to Brandix 167 for three in 21.4 overs (G. Appanna 50, P. Trinadh 45); HSBC 160 for nine in 30 overs (Ranjit 54, Teja 33, Sher Singh four for 47) bt Naval Armament Depot 83 in 22.1 overs (D. Venkatesh 26, Leo five for 14) . — Special Correspondent
