Cash prizes for sportspersons

BANGALORE: The Department of Youth Services and Sports has announced the list of sportspersons selected for cash prizes for their achievements in the field of sports. Minister for Textiles, Youth Services and Sports Gulihatti D. Shekar will present the cash awards to 81 sportspersons at a function at Yavanika here on Wednesday.

Announcing the winners here on Tuesday, Mr. Shekar said that the State Government, as announced in its 2009-10 Budget, is honouring sportspersons for 2009. Among those selected for cash awards are (participants in the international event) A. Aron D'Souza; Arjun J.P.; Gagan A.P.; Rohit R.H.; Shubha C.; Sneha T.; Rehan Poncha; Arhatha Magavi; Pratima Kollali; Akash Rohit; Adithya Roshan; Pooja R. Alva; Ashwini Menon; Shanun D'Souza; Prajwal K.S.; Sushaka Pratap; Navya G. Shenoy; Madhavi Giri; Vignesh N.; Saraswathi Holla; Renu R.T.; Varshini Gubbi; Shruthi M.S.; Utta Kotari; Swetha S.; and Pruthvi K.S. (swimming — all from Bangalore); Maheshwariah M.; Manju B.; Virupakshappa; Chandra Naik; Prakash Karanth K.; Harish Kumar (power lifting — all from Davangere); Dinakar Tanniyappa Poojari; Mohan Raj M.; (power lifting — all from Mangalore).
