BANGALORE: Mohammedan Sporting and ONGC registered contrasting victories in the Second Division I League football final round matches here on Wednesday. While Mohammedan Sporting struggled to a 2-1 win over a mediocre Sesa FC (Goa), ONGC recorded a fluent 4-1 win over Oil India (Assam). Theodore Sunday shot twice at goal and off the second attempt saw Sesa's Augustine Fernandes miskick his clearance into his own net in the 33rd minute. Soon after the change of ends there was aggressive intent by Sesa and it resulted in the equaliser with Jaiganesh Goltekar sidestepping the defence to shoot into the far corner. Later, Debkumar Sasmal managed to get his boot to direct the ball into the net, for the match-winner. Mohd. Sporting with this win has seven points from four matches while Sesa crashed to its third defeat from as many outings. Earlier, ONGC did itself and its goal tally a world of good with a 4-1 win over Oil India. Tarif Ahmed (3) and Badmas Baba Tunde scored for ONGC while for Oil India H.L. Routa was on target. ONGC jumps to the top of the league with 10 points from four matches while Oil India is at the bottom with onepoint. — Special Correspondent
