‘Claims on neglect of Telangana false'

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party Samaikhyaandhra Forum has urged the Srikrishna Committee not to believe in the ‘false propaganda' on discrimination and neglect of Telangana region by the parties seeking bifurcation of the State.

The forum, which made a comprehensive presentation on ‘facts and figures' , told the committee on Wednesday that there was no truth in the claims on backwardness of Telangana and the region, in fact, enjoyed a major share in development when compared with coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions. “Separate Telangana slogan which was built on foundation of lies is weakening,” TDP legislator D. Narendra said.

Mr. Narendra accompanied by legislators P. Keshav and Abdul Ghani, MLC N. Rajakumari, former MP K. Srinivasulu and several other senior leaders participated in the deliberations with the committee. Briefing reporters, he said the forum explained to the committee the developments that took place in irrigation, agriculture, education, health and other fields in Telangana and how the region got a lion's share of Rs. 1.07 lakh crore worth projects as part of the Jalayagnam.

Meanwhile, Telangana Freedom Fighters' Forum led by Konda Lakshman Bapuji said separate Telangana was the only way to rectify the ‘injustice' done to the people of the region.
