Pharmacist arrested

Tiruvannamalai: A pharmacist was arrested on Wednesday night on the charge of possessing expired drugs and illegally practising medicine at his shop near here.

District Supply Officer K. Dharanipathi and a team conducted a raid at Manickam Medicals in Kettavarampalayam near here. “When we checked for the expiry date of medicines, we found 140 tablets of Glynase-MF whose expiry date was February 2010. We found a BP apparatus, stethoscope, used syringes, empty drip sets etc., which suggested that Damodaran, owner of the shop, was illegally treating people. We handed him over to the Kadaladi police station,” Mr. Dharanipathi said .
