D.K. Aruna claims daily wages were enhanced during summer months to benefit labourers

Drinking water problems addressed by hiring private bores

SANGAREDDY: Minister for Small Scale Industries D.K. Aruna said that the implementation of NREGS had helped in checking the migration of people to other states due to lack of work.

Participating in a grama sabha programme at Turakal Khanapur village in Hatnoora mandal on Thursday, Ms. Aruna said that the daily wages were enhanced from the existing Rs. 100 to Rs. 150 during the summer months to benefit the labourers.

She exhorted the unemployed agricultural labourers to use the opportunity.

Acknowledging that drinking water and power supply problems arose during the Praja Patham programme, the Minister said that they were addressed by taking proper steps including transportation and hiring of private bores.

The other issues that were raised during the programme included payment of housing bills, sanction of pensions and low voltage.

First-hand information

Minister for Minor Irrigation V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy said she had visited all the 200 villages under her constituency and had first-hand information on the problems pertaining to these villages.
