Allegedly cheated her employer of his house, cash, and jewellery Victim, a retired Govt. oficer, suffering from Parkinson's disease NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to grant anticipatory bail to a maid servant booked for allegedly cheating her 76-year-old employer of his house in a posh North Delhi colony besides Rs.75 lakh in cash, jewellery and other valuables. According to the complaint lodged by the victim's son, his father is a retired Class I officer suffering from Parkinson's disease. “Abused her position” The Delhi Police in their status report submitted to the Court said the accused, Janaki, had abused and misused her position as a maid servant and cheated the complainant and his father. The report said the maid servant got the house of the elderly person at Outram Lines in Kingsway Camp transferred to her name by fabricating agreement papers for sale and general power of attorney by getting his thumb impression on them In the agreement papers, the maid servant was shown to have paid Rs.19.9 lakh as sale consideration to the retired officer for purchasing the property, the report said. She also withdrew Rs.75 lakh from his different bank accounts and deposited it in her and her children's accounts. She also allegedly removed the entire jewellery and other valuables from his locker, the report stated. While seeking bail, counsel for Janaki submitted that the elderly person had transferred the money to her. However, Justice S. N. Aggarwal rejected this argument. The Court rejected her bail plea saying that though it was conscious of the fact that she is a woman this alone was not sufficient for grant of pre-arrest bail to her when the accusations of cheating against her are of a very serious nature.
