10-day GJM bandh from June 12
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA: TheGJM leadership on Thursday called a 10-day bandh in the Darjeeling hills from June 12 to re-assert its demand for a separate State even as it reiterated that parts of the Dooars and the Terai in the plains of north Bengal be brought within the jurisdiction of the interim administrative set-up proposed by it for Darjeeling district and certain areas contiguous to it.
The GJM decided to intensify its agitation as well as re-focus on the Statehood demand two days after the talks held in Delhi to discuss the future of the interim administrative arrangement ended without the issue of territorial status being taken up.
