Happy occasion: Students look at the results displayed at the Fort Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Salem on Friday. - SALEM: Namakkal district soared high in the overall pass percentage in the Plus Two public examinations with a whopping 91.31 per cent as against the last year's show of 90.70 per cent. A total of 24,309 students including 11,527 girls from 155 schools wrote the examinations. While self finance institutions, numbering 25 had registered 98.51 per cent, Matric schools (47) recorded 97.18 per cent followed by Aided schools (84.19 per cent) and Government schools (82.14). The only school run by Social Welfare Department scored 100 per cent with two of its students emerging successfully. Centum A total of 85 including a student from a government school had scored centum in Physics, 135 students in Chemistry, 93 in Biology, 87 in Computer Science, 422 including seven students from government schools in Maths and 20 including 10 from government schools in Accountancy subjects. R. Sandhiya of Vivekanandha MHSS, Pandamangalam, who finished second at State level, bagged the first rank in the district with a total of 1,186, which included three centum, followed by S. Mano Chitra of Kurunji MHSS, Kavettipatti (1,185), who came third at the State level and R. Sathya of Kurunji MHSS with 1,184. The second and third placed candidates scored centum in two subjects each. Under the Other language category, K.P. Sanjay Ram of Vidhya Vikas MHSS, Tiruchengode (1,184), R. Deepak of Vidya Vikas MHSS, Tiruchengode (1,182), M. G. Karthika, Green Park MHSS, Namakkal, (1,182) and P. Hiteshkumar Chaajer of Vidya Vikas (B) MHSS, Tiruchengode (1,181) finished first, second, third and fourth respectively. In Government schools with Tamil as the main language, J. Revathi of Government HSS, R Pudhupalayam (1,151) came first followed by M. Venkateshkumar also of GHSS, R. Pudupalayam (1,131) and V. Dineshkumar of Government Boys HSS, Pallipalayam (1,128). A total of 21 schools scored as much as 100 per cent pass in the examination whose results were declared.
