Girls fare better than boys in Salem

SALEM: Girls as in the past have fared well, registering a pass percentage of 86.8 this year in the Plus Two examinations in Salem district by bettering the boys who scored 80.56 per cent.

The district's overall percentage is 83.7 as against the last year's 80.97 per cent.

All the three different categories, Government, Government-Aided and Matric and Self Financing schools have posted healthy overall percentage of pass this year when compared to the performances of last year.

While Government schools posted 76.81 per cent, much better than last year's 74.31, Aided schools registered a pass percentage of 90.47 as against 88.42.

The Matric and Self financing schools have registered 95.77 per cent as against 94.19. A total of 30,744 students from 198 schools in the district, including 15,448 girls, appeared for this year's examinations in which 25,732 including 13,409 girls passed with an overall percentage of 83.7.

Eighteen Matric and Self-financing schools and Government Service Home Higher Secondary School, Salem scored cent present results.
