SANGAREDDY: Minister for Information J. Geeta Reddy and Minister for Minor Irrigation V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy recalled the schemes introduced by late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy stating that these schemes filled the gap between the people and elected representatives. Ms. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy said that these schemes would continue and there need not be any doubt about it. Participating in Rededication programme held at Sangareddy on Saturday, Ms. Geeta Reddy said that even Union Minister Selja has praised the Praja Patham programme stating that this must be replicated across the country.

“In the past, politicians used to meet people when there was an inauguration or laying foundation stone. But Rajasekhara Reddy thought of sending the leaders to the people when they are facing problems.

Now people are coming forward to raise the problems and get them solved,'' said Ms. Geeta Reddy.

Expressing serious concern over obstruction to Praja Patham programme at some places in the district, Ms. Geeta Reddy said that it had not solved their problems though it might have given some political benefit to that political party. “If not the politicians and officers who will solve their problems?” asked the Minister.

Suggesting the Collector to review the petitions submitted by the people during Praja Patham, Ms. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy said that she would join hands with others to expedite the Pranahita- Chevella works. The input subsidy to farmers would be distributed during Rytu Chaitanya Yatra programme.

MLA Ch. Muthyam Reddy suggested organising Praja Patham twice in a year to get close to the people. MLA T. Jaya Praksh Reddy, DCC president and MLA T Nandeeswar Goud, MLC V. Bhoopal Reddy, Collector S. Suresh Kumar and others participated in the programme.

Assets worth Rs. 18.01 crore were distributed to beneficiaries during the programme.
