SHIMOGA: Intense lobbying for the post of Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University is on with the term of the incumbent B.S. Sherigara coming to an end on Monday. Panel not formed A four-member search committee, including representatives of the university, State Government and the Chancellor, is yet to be constituted to suggest three candidates from whom one would be appointed to the post. Contenders Contenders for the post include professors of the university — A.T. Puttiah who unsuccessfully tried for Vice-Chancellor of Tumkur University, S.A. Bari, Administrative Officer of the proposed Vijayanagar University, and Basavaraj Nellisara — and some educationists from outside the university, such as Ananthan, Administrative Officer of the proposed Belgaum University. It is believed that the search committee would take at least one month after being constituted to suggest a panel of names. Acting VC Until then, the head of the Postgraduate Department of Commerce and Management Studies, Made Gowda, would be acting Vice-Chancellor of the university.
