Temporary relief from heat

HYDERABAD: There was temporary relief from the heat for city residents with mercury levels dipping by two degree Celsius on Saturday due to upper air trough from Chhattisgarh to South Tamil Nadu across Andhra Pradesh.

Parts of twin cities that were reeling under sweltering heat conditions got much needed relief as thunder showers lashed the State capital, receiving 3.8mm rainfall on Friday night. MeT department officials said that temperature might reduce by three degrees Celsius during the next couple of days in Telangana and Rayalaseema regions. The city registered a maximum temperature of 41.1 degrees Celsius on Saturday when compared to 43.2 degrees Celsius on Friday and 42.9 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Mr. Rao predicted that conditions were favourable for the onset of south-west monsoon over Kerala by May 30 and it might hit the State by June first week.
