Full-fledged AR unit for Tirupur district soon

Tirupur: A full-fledged Armed Reserve (AR) police unit for Tirupur district is all set to become functional within few days.

Official sources told The Hindu that the unit, headed by an Inspector and assisted by seven Sub-Inspectors and 120 constables, would function adjacent to the District Police Office on Angeripalayam Road. The personnel would deal with major law and order, festival bandobust and guards vital installations in the district besides attending prisoners escort duties and other escorts. Steps were being taken to set up a dog squad for the district soon, sources said. Superintendent of Police A Arun said that the district police had received a finger print scanner at a cost of Rs. 1.5 lakh and it would soon be made operational. He said it was planned to hold a police-industrialists interface programme soon in which the entrepreneurs would be asked to procure similar finger print scanners to keep track of the migrant workforce employed in the respective units.
