NELLORE: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) directed the principals/correspondents of the colleges not to insist on payment of tuition fee and special fee from eligible BC and EBC students as the fee reimbursement would be made by the government. The commission which took up the matter, instructed the heads of the professional colleges not to stop hall tickets and cause any inconvenience for students for writing the examinations. “It has come to the notice of the officials that some college managements are putting the students to inconvenience by insisting for payment of tuition fee and are not issuing hall tickets for the forthcoming examinations.” As the matter was referred to the government, the college managements were instructed not to stop hall tickets to the students who are covered under post-matric scholarships and fee reimbursement schemes, said the commission in a letter sent to District BC Welfare Department officer. Kadapa Special Correspondent adds: Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar issued orders to principals of all colleges in Kadapa district not to harass BC and economically backward class students to pay fee arrears and give hall tickets to write examinations, according to an official statement. The district Collector warned of action against colleges which do not take cognizance of his orders with immediate effect.
