Vice-Chancellor thanks Chief Minister, Minister, Collector and MLA for allotting land

MACHILIPATNAM: In less than a week of getting 45 acres of land out of the total requirement of at least 200 acres for development of a permanent campus, the Krishna University has been given another 103 acres at Rudravaram village of Machilipatnam mandal.

The 102.86 acres of low-lying land is on the Machilipatnam-Challapalli road abutting the land allotted to the Government Polytechnic, which was recently sanctioned for Machilipatnam.

The land was handed over by the Krishna District Collector to the Registrar through “advanced possession order” dated May 17.

University Vice-Chancellor M.K. Durga Prasad said in a statement on Tuesday that he was assured of support by the district administration for the levelling of the land and for finding water resource.

Even while expressing happiness over the allotment of a total of 148 acres in two phases, Dr. Durga Prasad, however, said the University still required another 52 to 60 acres to fulfil the minimum requirement stipulated by the University Grants Commission.

He expressed hope that the district administration would allot the remaining portion of the land at a prime location preferably in the town.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked Chief Minister K. Rosaiah, Minister for Higher Education D. Sridhar Babu, Minister for Animal Husbandry K. Parthasarathy, District Collector Peeyush Kumar, MLA Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) and other elected representatives of the district for making the land allotment possible.
