Natasha Palha beats Zhu Lin

NEW DELHI: Natasha Palha knocked out the fifth-seeded Zhu Lin of China 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the girls' pre-quarterfinals, of the ITF juniors grade II tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Tuesday.

In the quarterfinals, the 16-year-old Natasha will meet wild card Kyra Shroff who dismissed qualifier Adnya Naik for the loss of just two games in the pre-quarterfinals. Adnya had beaten the third-seeded Miyu Kato of Japan earlier in the day.

National champion Ratnika Batra finished off her overnight match against the eighth-seeded Sabina Sharipova of Uzbekistan, closing it out 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, and then returned in the afternoon to beat Sharon Paul and book a quarterfinal berth.

In the boys' section, Mansingh Athare beat the fifth-seeded Sai Karthik to earn a shot at the top-seeded Liang-Chi Huang of Chinese Taipei.

Vaidik Munshaw, Ronit Bisht and Vinod Gowda were the other Indian boys to make the quarterfinals.
