Fee reimbursement, other dues to be cleared in phases

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has directed the Finance Department officials to give priority for clearing amounts due to education, welfare and development programmes.
In a meeting to review State finances and allocations yet to be made under fee reimbursement, scholarships, irrigation projects, programmes taken up by other departments, it is understood that dues to the tune of about Rs.13,000 crore were to be released for programmes taken up during 2009-10.

Of this Rs.1,600 crore was due to Education Department, Rs.3,400 crore to irrigation.
Of the monthly revenue generated in the State, priority allocations would be made to clear the dues in phases, sources said.
Meanwhile officials are also awaiting the report from Tigidi committee to improve the system so that eligible students would not be deprived of benefits under fee reimbursement, scholarships schemes.
The improvements in the system would help the department to ensure that the tax payers would not be frittered away on those who made bogus claims under various welfare programmes, they said.
