Good show by district schools

Kozhikode: CBSE schools in the district have performed creditably in the Class XII examinations, the results for which were announced on Wednesday.

Of the 237 students who appeared for the examination from Kendriya Vidyalaya, 236 emerged successful.

Silver Hills Public School, Veda Vyasa Vidyalayam and Alphonsa English Medium School, Thamarassery, secured 100 per cent pass in the examination.

Thirty-eight out of 41 students secured distinction at Silver Hills; 65 out of 122 secured distinction at Veda Vyasa Vidyalayam; and 26 out of 45 secured distinction at Alphonsa School.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal Maya George said the school surpassed last year's pass percentage, which was 93, and added that the results also indicated that the school outperformed the other Kendriya Vidyalayas in the State.

She said 96 out of 168 students in science, five out of 29 in humanities and 13 out of 40 in commerce secured distinction.

The toppers at Kendriya Vidyalaya for Shift I are: Mariya Dayana (468/500) in science; Aswathi R. Nair (451/500) in humanities; and Naveen Nair (441/500) in commerce. The topper in science in Shift II is Vishnu Anil (479/500).

Kavya Sudhir (489/500) topped science and Anju Pradeep (449/500) topped commerce at Veda Vyasa School.

Ashitha Joseph (449/500) is the topper at Alphonsa School in science. Shravan Shankar (473/500) and Megha S. Kumar (472/500) are the toppers in science at Silver Hills.

Dayapuram Residential School, Chathamangalam, also secured 100 percent pass, with 59 out of the 120 students securing distinction.
