Tigress found dead in reserve

Bhopal: A 30-month-old tigress was found dead in Madhya Pradesh's Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve on Wednesday.

“The tigress was around 30 months old and possibly died after sustaining some internal injuries in a fight with another tigress over territory,” Reserve Field Director C.K. Patil told PTI. The animal was found dead at the reserve's Tala range in the Umaria district.

Mr. Patil said some tourists spotted a tigress limping on Wednesday morning. He, however, ruled out the possibility of it being hit by a tourist jeep.

Before the cat died, it entered a water body in the Tala range, he said, adding there was no external injury mark on the animal's body. — PTI
