State funeral for slain CRPF jawan

The body was airlifted on Thursday from Kolkata


CHENNAI: A State funeral will be held with full police honours for the slain CRPF personnel D. Ramesh on Tuesday, according to an official release.

Ramesh hailing from Kovilpathagi in Tiruvallur district was one among the five CRPF personnel killed in an IED blast triggered by Maoists near Tetultala Bridge in West Midnapore district on Wednesday.

He is survived by his father, mother and two younger brothers.

He was the only breadwinner in the family and his parents were making arrangements for his marriage.

His body was airlifted on Thursday from Kolkata.

On behalf of the Director General, CRPF, senior CRPF Officer Representative will place a wreath on the jawan's body, the release said.
