Move to focus on NMR in summer festival

Udhagamandalam: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has drawn up a programme to focus special attention on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) during the ongoing Summer Festival being organised by the district administration and the Department of Tourism here. According to a press note issued by the Deputy General Manager (Tourism), IRCTC, South Zone, L. Ravikumar as a tourist-friendly initiative the IRCTC will arrange for a special run of the ‘toy train' between Ooty and Coonoor on Friday. It will leave Ooty by 1.20 p.m. and reach Coonoor at 2.20 p.m.

On the return journey it will leave Coonoor at 3.15 p.m. and reach Ooty at 4.15 p.m.

Arrangements for photo sessions with the toy train as the back drop have been made at the Ooty and Coonoor railway stations. A lucky draw will be conducted among the passengers travelling by the NMR from Mettupalayam to Ooty on May 20 and 21.
