Easy for North Zone North Zone motored to a seven-wicket win over KCA XI in the State under-19 inter-zone cricket match at the Medical College ground in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. Farzeen (four for 22) and Ashiq Mohammed (four for 32) brought a quick end to the KCA XI second innings that left North Zone an easy target of 89. North Zone eased to victory in 26 overs for the loss of three wickets. The scores: KCA XI 134 & 101 in 39.4 overs (Saly V. Samson 38, Farzeen four for 22, Ashiq Mohammed four for 32) lost to North Zone 147 & 92 for three in 26 overs (Basil 34 n.o.) . Kannur beats Malappuram Kannur defeated Malappuram by six wickets in the under-16 State championships at Perinthalmanna on Thursday. In another match played at the Thalassery cricket stadium, Pathnamthitta scored a 27-run win over Idukki. The scores: Malappuram 109 in 23.3 overs (Vaishnav Manohar 35, Fabid Farooq three for 28) lost to Kannur 111 for four in 17.3 overs (Mohd. Famiz 55 no, Fabid Farooq 38, Abhijit three for 18). Pathanamthitta 137 in 43.5 overs bt Idukki 110 in 40.2 overs (K.A. Ajith 42, K. Sarath three for 12).
