Collector distributes assistive devices

To 962 differently-abled children



HELPFUL:Collector A. Suganthi, centre, handing over an assistive device to a differently-abled person in Pudukottai on Thursday.

PUDUKOTTAI: Collector A.Suganthi on Thursday distributed free assistive devices like hearing aids, sensory chapels, callipers, etc worth Rs.9.58 lakh to 962 differently-abled children under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme.

The Collector said that she would allocate funds from the Collector's discretionary fund for establishing a training centre for the differently-abled children in Pudukottai district. She appealed to the people to support the differently-abled people and help them.

V. Rukmani, Additional Chief Educational Officer of SSA scheme, Pudukottai district, explained the various welfare schemes being implemented for children. George Dass, District Disabled Welfare Officer, S.Thangaraj, supervisor of taluk centre, and others spoke.
