KOCHI: The people of the State will overthrow the government in the next election as “they had enough of the State government” during the last four years, said Sachin Pilot, Union Minister of State for Telecommunication and Information Technology. Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, Mr. Pilot said that the government was unable to function effectively due to the pulls and pressures in the ruling coalition and the internal factions in it. The Chief Minister was even demoted in the party. There was no investment climate in the IT sector of the State. Every Indian Youth Congress worker will contribute to bringing back the Congress-led government to power, Mr. Pilot said. The public sector telecom companies will focus on improving the tele-connectivity in the rural India. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will add 1,268 mobile towers during the current fiscal in the Kerala circle for mobile phone service. Of this, 167 will be in Ernakulam. Regarding Wimax service, 975 towers will be added in the State. The BSNL has 53,000 3G connections in the State, Mr. Pilot said. Youth Congress The organisational elections to be held in the Indian Youth Congress will ensure that hardworking and competent candidates will come up in the organisation. The elections held in the transparent manner will also put an end to the practice of bogus memberships, factions and groups in the organisation. The membership drive will energise the youth to join the organisation in a big way. The membership and the election process are being held in fair manner, he said. The deadline for membership has been extended to June 5. The drive held in Tamil Nadu saw 15 lakh youths being enrolled in the organisation, he said.
