Salem: Medium pacer S. Shanmugam picked five for 38 as TUG CC defeated Students Senior CC by one wicket and emerged champion of the TNCA-SDCA first division league recently. After bundling out Students Senior for 157, TUG, thanks to R. Sivaprakasam (54), scored the required runs with a wicket to spare. The scores (final): First division: Students Sr. CC 157 in 45 overs (S. Shanmugam five for 38) lost to TUG CC 159 for nine in 44.3 overs (R. Sivaprakasam 54, S. Chandramouli three for 27). Second division: GMCC 221 for nine in 45 overs (A. Iliyaraja 52, S. I. Vasudevan four for 22, T. Kesavan three for 42) bt SSP RC 219 for nine in 45 overs (S.I. Vasudevan 62).
